Living style, based on a certain cultural pattern is a way, of using all the material and cultural resources for one to meet the need in life, so it is closely related to one's body constitution. Way of living is actually one of the major behavioural agents to influence one's physique.University students in Qinghai are from different areas and of different ethnic groups. Their differences in living surroundings, geographical environments, nationality customs, ideological perceptions and religious beliefs lead to big difference in their way of living. Therefore, it is necessary to have a deep and careful research on their ways of living and the intrinsic relation between their living style and physique. This research, taking university students of Han, Tibetan, Hui, Tu, Sala and Mongolian in Qinghai as objects of study, examines the relation between their way of living and health condition in physique and it shows:1. University students of different nationalities in Qinghai show remarkable differences in physical form, physical performance and physical quality. Namely, students of all nationalities are good in height development, especially Tibetan and Mongol boys and girls; students' vital capacity and step index are also good in test, especially the vital capacity of Tibetan and Mongol boys and girls; the upper limb strength of Tibetan and Mongol boys is better than that of other nationality boys while Sala boys'is a little worse than that of other nationality boys; Han girls have an obvious advantage in sit-ups while Tibetan boys and girls have an obvious advantage in standing long jump. The finding after evaluating the totals of all students'five-quota shows that only a few Han boys and girls can not pass the tests while a large proportion of students among other nationalities can reach the second class. In addition, the comparison and contrast of the totals in evaluating the tests of all students'physique health condition shows that Tibetan boys students'total points in physique is far above others' while Sala boy and girl students'total is remarkably lower.2. University students of different nationalities in Qinghai are quite different in way of living. There is a higher incidence of diseases in digestive system among Han, Mongol and Tibetan boys and Mongol,Tu girls; a higher incidence of respiratory system diseases among Mongol,Tu,Han and Tibetan boys and Mongol ,Tu girls; a higher incidence of fortuitous casualty among Sala, Hui boys and Tu boys and girls. All the students have an improper diet, that is, an inadequate intake of poultry, fish, vegetables, fruits, milk and beans; there is a disproportion of energy supply in three meals every day; drinking alcoholic beverage is very popular and there is a big difference in different ethnic groups; among the smokers, there is a large proportion in Tu, Mongol, Tibetan boys and Tibetan, Mongol girls; some nationality students drink raw water over a long period of time. The students'income is mainly from family supply; next to it is the practice of working while studying and support from relatives and frends and only a few students can totally depend on the government's financial difficulties allowance and study-aiding loans. The monthly life expenses are for food and drink, daily necessities, stationery, clothes, connecting to internet, making frends and communicating. All the students are not much pressed by study and have not got many opportunities for week-end sports and working while studying programme and other practical activities. Religious belief is fairly common among university students of every nationality. There are also some differences of sex and nationality in the time amount, time, intensity and sport-selection in sports activities.3. Except heredity, natural surroundings and social environment, living style is the major factor to influence the physique health condition of university students of all nationalities in Qinghai. It can be seen from the research and analysis that Tibetan and Mongol students are above others in weight, vital capacity and physical quality thanks to their diet, sports exercise and other ways of life. Likewise, the physique health condition of Han, Hui, Sala and Tu students is closely reated to their diet, sports exercise and other ways of life.
