The transformation of the role of the principle is a subject which cannot be avoided in the implementation of the new curriculum. Research and practice shows that the principle plays an important role in the course of curriculum implementation. The effect may be positive. But it may be negative sometimes. Consequently, the transformation of the principle's conception and behaviors during curriculum implementation, which is also called the transformation of the role of the principle, is of great importance. It's not only a major task of curriculum implementation, but also a great contribution to it and a symbol of the success in the process. At the very beginning of curriculum implementation, the principle should be a host, to be more exact, an encourager or advocator who introduces the new curriculum into the school. During the whole process of curriculum implementation, the principle should change into an assessor who gives proper suggestion and corrects the way in time. And the development makes it possible that the principle becomes a creator and even the leader of the culture of new curriculum at last. However, we find that the principle often plays as an obstructer during the reform of curriculum implementation and even feels confused from the research and practice at home and abroad. Then what are the factors which affect the transformation of the principle's role on earth? The thesis tries to give answers to the question, using the importance of the principle during the curriculum implementation, the principle's role as"government officials"out of the total roles, the environment of curriculum implementation, the culture or local customs, the personality and capability of the principle, etc.The structure of the thesis runs as follows:introduction.Part One: introduction. It reveals the significance of the topic and the methods involved in the thesis.Part Two: literature review. The author summarizes the theoretical study on curriculum implementation at home and abroad.Part Three: the review and reflection of the author's own experiences. It mainly tells the readers the experiences in the process of curriculum implementation and the self-evaluation of the role playing.Part Four: conclusion.
