A Study On The Transformation Of Scientific And Technical Achievements Of Ningbo University

In order to turn scientific technology to primary productive force, it is of vital importance to accelerate the combination of science and technology with economy, and to promote the transformation of scientific and technical achievements into practical production capability. With the fast growth of knowledge economy and new view of knowledge, colleges and universities have established their status as the core of the economy-centered society by applying their knowledge to create value and serve society. In China Universities and Colleges have become key force in innovation in knowledge, as well as an important group in technology innovation and the development of high and new technology industries. Local institutions of higher learning, which takes up more than 92% of the total number of regular institutions of higher learning, make the main part of higher education in China; therefore, they should take active roles in such fields as technology innovation, knowledge innovation and so on. As a comprehensive local university on the list of the provincial priority program, Ningbo University has made important contributions to the development of local economy and society since its establishment. Currently, Ningbo University faces both challenges and opportunities; the university must rise to the challenges and seize opportunities. Following the school's overall goals of development and its concept of "improving inner quality, breeding unique features, integrating into community", Ningbo University should work hard to serve local economy and social development, as well as to speed up the transformation of its scientific and technical achievements. Hence, an analysis of the current situation of transformation of scientific and technical achievements of Ningbo University and studies on it have instructional meaning for improving the science and technology innovation ability of Ningbo University and strengthening its comprehensive power.Based on the Concept of transformation of scientific and technical achievements and relative theories, this thesis made an over-all analysis of the changes that have taken place in the transformation of scientific and technical achievements accomplished by higher institutions in Zhejiang Province in recent years, and pointed out the characteristics of the transformation as well as some main problems. Then, the thesis compared the transformation of scientific and technical achievements accomplished by Ningbo University and those accomplished by other provincial institutions of higher learning to find out some problems that Ningbo University had in this; Third, aimed at the problems, this thesis dissected some factors that affect the transformation of scientific and technical achievements of Ningbo University, including the macroscopic environment such as social system and policy, and the microscopic factors which directly relate to the transformation. Lastly, borrowing the experience of other colleges and universities, and managing four relations: the relation between teaching and research, the relation between fundamental research and applied research, the relation between lateral research project and portrait research project, and the relation between locally stood and national oriented, this thesis put forward some suggestions for Ningbo University to speed up its transformation of scientific and technical achievements.
