Improving teachers' continual education is the most powerful and rapid way to promote new course reform and raise the quality of on-the-job teachers. The quality of rural teaching staff is comparatively low and the continual education of countryside teachers is the weak point. Physics teaching at secondary school is of great importance to raise the quality of rural labor. Therefore, It's necessary to enhance the investigation of physics teachers' continual education in the countryside.This paper is based on data from various approaches, for instance, document studying, poll questioning, interviewing, etc. It shows the primary situation of physics teachers' continual education in rural secondary school around Bengbu City, It analyses the major problems and probes into the subjective and objective factors that influence and hamper the continual education of physics teachers in rural secondary school. According to the existing problems, the paper explores the effective ways to strengthen the physics teachers' continual education in rural secondary school, providing some practical and feasible experience and countermeasures for physics teachers' continual education of secondary school in the country around Bengbu City and even for the whole province. The paper discusses from the following three sections:Section One: Preface. It states the necessity and importance to strengthen physics teachers' continual education of the secondary school in the country, brings forth documents and related definitions, introduces the aim of the investigation about the topic,primary content,investigation methods and possible creation.Section Two: Firstly, By poll questioning, interviewing and individual case studying, it obtains the basic situation of physics teachers' continual education in secondary school around Bengbu City, investigate and analyses present condition of their continual education. Secondly, it summarizes the main problems that exist in the continual education of physics teachers in secondary school, such as training idea that does not reach a high level, training contents that are not accordance with realistic conditions and have no strong effects, training access and teaching methods that are too simplistic, evaluation that becomes a mere formality, the teaching staff that need to improve, training funds that are seriously inadequate. Lastly, it analyses the reasons that result in the problems above from three aspects: training institutes, teachers that receive training, the schools that the teachers receiving training come from.Section Three: Put forward some proposals and countermeasures to improve continual education of physics teachers in secondary school around Bengbu City from three aspects: transform the concepts of continual education, reinforce the construction of training institutes, explore training forms. Such measures as keeping continual education concepts update, adopting award systems to enhance the positiveness of the teaching receiving training, ascertaining "three-class share" system of training funds, strengthening the construction of continual education teaching staff. Improving concentrated training forms, reasonable arrangement for the course of continual education, reinforcing the evaluation and feedback of training, adopting flexible school-based training as major complement of concentrated training, all in a word, to make the countermeasures practical and effective.
