In this paper, by analyzing the relevant theories and investigating the present situation of college student' s social practice abilities, the author comes to the conclusion that college students these days lack social practical abilities. After analyzing the reasons of this inability, the author proposes some strategies and recommendations to improve college students' social practice abilities. This paper consists of the following four parts.Chapter one: In this chapter, the author introduces the backgrounds and the causes for choosing this subject which makes it clearer that it is urgent to strengthen the training of college student' s social practice abilities. By summarizing the relevant research achievements in and abroad, the author determined on the subject of this thesis, that is, the analysis of the relevant theories, the lack of college students' social practice abilities and its reasons; the strategies and recommendations to improve these abilities.Chapter two: Based on the literature review in the introduction, in this chapter, from the point of cognitive psychology, the author defines the connotation of college students' social practice abilities, and studies its components and the relevant theories of its formation and development. College students' social practice abilities refer to students' procedural knowledge and basical abilities in dealing with all kinds of practical problems in their social practice. It is an ability system composed of general and special social practical abilities. General social practice ability includes the ability of social cognation, expression, communication, administration, automatic learning, the use of foreign language and computer, while the special abilities are those of professional operation, analyzing and solving problems and innovation. The formation and development of college students' social practice abilities are not separated from social practice, and conditioned by the individual motivations and chances to participate, and the development level of its components.Chapter three: by investigating the present situation of college students' social practice abilities, the author comes to the conclusion that college students are lack of general and special social practice abilities. The reasons are as follows:First, the government lacks not only special funds, but also the policy guide to encourage the employers' participation into the training of students' social practice abilities. Second, the employers are not active in cooperating with colleges. Besides, colleges still pay more attention to the impartment of declarative knowledge than social practice, particularly the training of special abilities. Finally, college students lack the consciousness and diligences in self training.Chapter four: based on the problems in government, employers, college and students, in this chapter, the author constructs the "quaternity" operating system. The government fully plays the role of macro-control, the employers actively participate in the cooperation with colleges, colleges take further steps in education and instruction reform and college students enhance the self-training and improvement of their social practice abilities.
