Individuation is a key concept of the new curriculum renovation. Chinese teaching renovation should center around individuation. The reading lessons are always the focus of the Chinese teaching. Therefore, the concept of Personalized Teaching of Reading has a realistic and positive meaning.The concept of Personalized Teaching of Reading is put forward on the basis of the reflection on the traditional teaching of reading. The major defect in the traditional teaching of reading is that it ignores the students' principal status in their learning as well as their characteristics and abilities as an individual during the reading process. Moreover, it replaces thinking with so-called scientific answers. As a result, it reduces the charm of the writings and no pleasure can be found in the reading process, making the Chinese teaching lose the function of educating students. The Personalized Teaching of Reading is a strategy to change the present situation radically.This essay explores theories and practice related to the personalized reading teaching in Chinese teaching, and it covers the research into how to put the personalized teaching of reading into practice. Detailed strategies are put forward to advance the students' all-round development including their sound personality and to cultivate the students' creativity.
