The Study Of The Development Of Independent Colleges In Zhejiang Province

Independent colleges in Zhejiang Province, one of the latest achievements of higher education innovation, are the newborn education institutions due to the objective needs of society, economy and education and the actual situation in Zhejiang Province. Independent colleges play an important role in solving the shortage of higher education resources and popularizing higher education. It has already been an important component of the local higher education system.This paper takes a representative college in the current 20 independent colleges in Zhejiang Province—Z College as a research sample, studying the historical background of Zhejiang Province when it was founded and its own background. After careful study of Z College's multifaceted development situation, the author then studies the main existing problems and problems that may occur in the future. Then he provides an in-depth analysis of reasons. At last, the author proposes approaches about how to enhance its development capability in the future. The author expected that this paper could provide certain references for other independent colleges in Zhejiang Province.The paper can be divided into five parts:The first part is the introduction. In this part, the author first puts forward the significance of the subject, and then refers to the current situation of relevant studies both at home and abroad. The author also explains the research ideas and methods of this paper as well as the innovation and shortcomings.In the second part, the author analyzes the necessity and contingency of Z College's foundation and its own characteristics through looking back to its background and motivation of foundation.In the third part, the author first looks back to the three progressive stages of development of Z College, and then introduces its current development situation at several aspects (2007).In the forth part, the author studies the main existing problems or problems that may occur in the future, and then analyzes these problems at the aspects of institution levels, interior factors and social reasons.In the fifth part, the author proposes the approaches about how to solve the problems and how to enhance the development capability of Z College at 4 aspects: to establish and improve the systems of school directorates, to improve the education quality and characteristics of running a school, to enhance the financial guarantee capability, and to create a good environment for external policies and public opinions.This study shows that running independent colleges in Zhejiang Province, including Z College, is not as perfect as some people view, and also it is not as bad as critics view. Take Z College for example, on one hand, it well adapts itself to the objective situation of Zhejiang Province, and has made remarkable achievements, which has acknowledged by the various circles in Zhejiang Province. On the other hand, there are still a lot of problems at macro and micro level, which request the government, society, universities and Independent colleges to work together. Only through constant reform and innovation can they promote the development of independent colleges, thus making greater contribution to the higher education in Zhejiang Province.
