This paper analyses the significance of gratitude in contemporary education and the status quo of gratitude education among contemporary middle school students. With a view to providing some theoretic and practical guidance for professionals in the education sector, this paper has proposed some specific methods for some key issues in the gratitude education among middle school students.As such, this paper consists of six parts. The first part is the introduction to gratitude education, which mainly discusses the background and the theoretic and practical significance of gratitude education.The second part mainly includes an objective analysis of gratitude education. By analyzing the effects of gratitude education on the overall educational system in middle schools, this paper argues that gratitude education has become the basis for constructing a harmonious socialist society in China, and hence a necessary component of integrity education for middle school students. As part of the traditional Chinese culture, gratitude entails gratefulness towards parents, teachers, friends, society and nature. This part thus analyses the theoretic basis of gratitude education.The third part discusses the practical basis of gratitude education. By interviewing a selected number of middle school students and their parents and teachers, this part analyses the awareness of gratitude among contemporary middle school students and major reasons for the apparent lack of gratitude awareness among middle school students.The fourth part makes some proposals to families, middles schools, and other educational institutions with a view to constructing a sound network for gratitude education.The fifth part is about the effects of gratitude education.Such as the increasing of gratitude conscience,the pormation of gratitude feelings and the changing of gratitude actions.The sixth part mainly includes some thoughts on the effects of gratitude education and concludes that gratitude education shall be student-oriented and shall be promoted in the whole educational and even social networks.
