The age of intellective economy have come into being new request for senior high school student's innovative quality and practice capacities. The students were located the position of a inquiry, at the same time, the teachers should transform their role as a students' tutors and a teaching organizer, all which was brought up against the traditional teaching model. As a kind of new geographical teaching models, the inquiry learning have become a focus of current geographical teaching restructuring research by its original notion, handy operation and excellent effect.The inquiry learning is based on Duwhei, Brula and Piyage's learning theory, it has many successful experiences in all subjects teaching at home and abroad. But how introduce this advanced and scientific teaching model into geographical teaching of senior high school have being plunged in some mistake area. Holding exactly the psychic essences of the inquiry learning, establishing a internal certain contact between this notion and realistic teaching process and teaching things, which expect producing the teaching and learning effect that is consistent with the curriculum aim. In the senior high school's geographical teaching, the aim of inquiry learning is that the students gain a all-around enhancing at their emotion, attitude, capacities, and new teacher-student viewpoint and so on. The content of inquiry include either the nature geography human geography or both of them. In the process of implement, its strategy include inspiring interest, creating the things of relative question, leading and encouraging them supposing daringly, presuming and validating the inquiry effect, transferring and transforming innovative thinking. As a demonstration, the corresponding three teaching cases have been summarized for inquiry learning through teaching and research practice movement for many years.By the experiment of teaching inquiry, the inquiry learning have many successes as follow: the first, it foster the students' innovative capacities, the second ,it foster the students' interest of learning geography, what's more, it is helpful for valuing students themselves. The effect of the application of the inquiry learning in senior high school geography teaching, was valued and analyzed. It was conducted through the means of experiments. These experiments showed: inquiry learning have enhanced the student independence by 21%, innovative capacities by nearly 60%, learning interesting by 14%, it have improved learning attitude by 23% and the performance of these students have been improved greatly.Meanwhile, it has some deficiencies such as them: the first, the inquiry learning focus on the process of intellective transform, it is very hard at gaining systemic and scientific and basic knowledge. The second, it cost more time for students gaining the capacities and holding the knowledge, by this, the students is very hard to finish their task that is confined by the didactical outline. The three, some of school lack a set of equipments of teaching and experiment or circumstance. Last but not least, all kinds of exam, enter a higher school, and society relative some aspect give school and teacher the more and more compressive stress, which result in the warp between the short-term teaching aim and aim that is designed for the inquiry learning and so forth. That all above should be improved and consummated in the process of teaching and research in the future.
