This dissertation is a primary study about the Inquiry Learning applied to the classroom teaching of geography. The Inquiry Learning is the learning manner, as well as is the learning environment, teaching model, and teaching thought. During the operation of its teaching, it involve in many areas such as education psychology, curriculum structure and arrangement of teaching contents. A train of thought is provided in the paper to realize the students' individual development.Three parts compose this paper. In the first part, we introduce the major contents, including the significant, characteristics, sense and target of Inquiry, Learning, and then its development, at last the difference between Inquiry Learning and exploring learning.In the second part, on the basis of the previous discusses, we continue to discuss the necessity and feasibility of Inquiry Learning applied to geography classroom teaching. The writer think due to changes of educational conception, people reconsider the status of students in the classroom.Inquiry Learning is taken on the characteristics of spatiality, generalization, dynamics and extensive and so on. People require we should create the learning environment in geography teaching that inspire students initiative inquiry, so the Inquiry Learning is becoming an important part of geography teaching.In the third part, we discuss operational instances of Inquiry Learning. The contexts introduce classification of senior geography subjects, and analyze their structure and characteristic one by one. Meanwhile the junior geography is classified and concluded, design of the corresponding subjects are put forward. This context discusses the object and method of Inquiry Learning curriculums of geography. On the previous basis , this context conclude the targets and estimated means of effective Inquiry Learning , introduce the three models of experimental Inquiry Learning on writer's teaching in Beijing Electrical Industry Junior School ,analyze the problems that the teacher and students pay attention to .Finally, the practical difficulties in designing and popularizing the Inquiry Learning are listed. More studies and experiments are still needed to make the Inquiry Learning into good effect.
