A Study Of The Index System Of Sichuan Population Security

Sichuan is one of the provinces with large populations in China. The reproduction of population has changed into the modern reproduction model of"low birth, death and increase", and the population size is initially under effective control. However, the population of Sichuan has undertaken a long-term accumulation, and the population security problems such as oversized population, low population quality, irrational structure and over-centralized distribution, as well as the relative disharmony between population and the outer system including resources, environment, society, economy, etc. The evaluation of the population security level of Sichuan has positive practical social significance in seeking a relatively safe population development model in order to provide supports for correct policy making.The systematical theories are applied in this paper. Based on the comprehensive population outlook, taking the development goal of population security as the starting point, an index evaluation system of population security is constructed according to two main threads, one of which is within the system and the other is between systems, by carding the relationship among the factors within the population system and the ones between the population and the sub-systems such as society, economy, resources, and environment. The concepts of population threshold value and the population security index are taken into consideration, the index data is collected scientifically, and the practical and theoretical, qualitative and quantitative research methods are applied. A scientific and comprehensive evaluation is taken on the population security level of Sichuan.This paper contains five chapters: Chapter 1, the foreword; Chapter 2, the general introduction of the connotation and researches of the population security; Chapter 3, the present condition of Sichuan population security; Chapter 4, the construction and evaluation of the index system of Sichuan population security; Chapter 5, the conclusion. The final research conclusions of this paper are:1. The population security level of Sichuan is relatively good, slightly above the national average level, and conforms to the present economic development level.2. The enhancement of the Sichuan population security index mainly benefits from the development of civilization and effective environmental treatment.3. There is a close relationship between the Sichuan population security level and the environmental conditions. The population security index changes from high to low in different areas in this order: economic developed cities, basin and flatland areas, highland areas, Basin Mountains and plateau areas.4. The total population of Sichuan is large, and there is great pressure on the population security. The relative overall security index is the lowest.5. The economic development level of Sichuan is behind the population development, which is the most crucial factor affecting the improvement of Sichuan population security index.6. The population structure of Sichuan is irrational, the sexual proportion of newborns is too high, and the aging of population is ahead of the development level of economy and society. All of these are major hidden dangers of the future population security of Sichuan.
