The knowledge economy time is innovative talents' time; there is no economic efficiency and the public wealth creation if there is no innovative talents,the innovation of the knowledge and the application. General education is the hotspot of current higher education reforms; Its unique conception adapts to the requirements of the cultivation of innovative talents, and plays a important role. Therefore, it becomes an important systematic problem on how to build general education to help train the innovative talents. That is why doing this research possesses its theoretical and practical value.The paper uses several kinds of methods synthetically such as the historical research, to systematically analyze the relationship between general education and the cultivation of innovative talents. It has four sections:The first part is an outline of general education. In the first, based on the brief review of the former research, puts forward the connotation of general education, and generalizes some characteristics. Then introduce the connotation and intension of the innovative talents.Part two, after understanding the necessity of general education, uses examples to prove how the general education promotes the cultivation of innovative talents. This part analyses the relationship between general education and the cultivation of innovative talents from three facets: Professor Sperry "entire brain education" theory,The Theory Multiple Intelligences and develop the intellectual and the non-intellectual factor coordinately.Part three, by introducing the general education of foreign counties and that of China, to know the existing problems and possible reasons of general education of China.Part Four, puts forward the corresponding measures of solution to the existing problems. Such as, establishing the reasonable course arrangements; updating the concept of education to enhance the people's recognition to general education; reforming the assessment system of teaching; establishing and consummating the general education teaching staff and so on.
