The ultimate goal of the development of teaching profession is the progress of students. It is well known that child education plays an indispensable role in lifetime education and kindergarten teacher is an important bridge connecting lessons and children. It goes without saying the importance of the function that a kindergarten teacher plays in a person's lifelong progress. Researches on how to promote kindergarten teachers' profession development are very pressing and should be dealt without any delay.How is the kindergarten teachers' profession development situation and what factors are related to kindergarten teachers' profession development? Based on these two questions, the author borrows the existent theories and researches on kindergarten teachers' profession development to conduct a survey on the kindergarten teachers' profession development situation by means of document research and questionnaire etc. Investigation on current situations and problems of profession development of kindergarten teachers in Zhuhai has been made from six aspects such as kindergarten teachers' occupation ideas, occupational behaviors, occupation satisfaction and demands, kindergarten teachers' training situation, kindergarten appraisal system, and kindergarten teaching and research incentive system to find out the relationship between kindergarten teachers' current situation and their profession development. Corresponding suggestions are given in this paper.The survey results are as follows: Kindergarten teachers in Zhuhai are very young; among them, teachers with associate diploma or above account for 76.1%; Salaries of most kindergarten teachers are lower than average salary of on-job employees in Zhuhai; kindergarten teacher procession is very unstable. In most cases, kindergarten teachers choose their occupation proactively; their perception of the image of kindergarten teacher has changed from devoted, authority type to expert, service type. Kindergarten teachers are willing to take party in profession development activities, however, they are passive in rethought, lack of independence in teaching, and have little knowledge of career planning, therefore their career development is in a relatively blind situation. Lots of kindergarten teachers are confident in their professional progress, nevertheless, such factors as overload of work, lacking of research methods, and no material rewards to teaching and research etc. have affected teachers teaching and research activities. Trainings of kindergartens in Zhuhai make most teachers feel satisfactory in the aspects of "improved teaching methods", "increased work efficiency" as well as "strengthened research ability". However, there exist shortcomings like fewer training opportunities, old training modes, contradiction between training and actual work etc. The main purpose of kindergartens' appraisal of teacher lies in finding out teachers' development demands, the main body of appraisal is diversifying. The incentive system of teaching and research in kindergarten is of no appeal for more than half of the teachers. When analyzing relationship between kindergarten teachers' basic situation and their profession development situation, it is found "whether choose to be a teacher again" has remarkable correlation with "independence in teaching", "highest diploma" and "satisfactory to training". "Independence in teaching" has remarkable positive correlation with "rethought behaviors" and "salary". Age, school age and job title have not clear correlation with profession development.Based on investigation results and analysis on existing problems, this paper introduces suggestions such as enhancing teachers' self quality, strengthening kindergarten management, providing education and research related training for kindergarten teachers, enlarging training opportunities and improving training methods and contents etc. in the hope of providing reference for kindergartens and related departments to promote teachers' profession development.
