In recent years, humanity has been emphasized in Chinese teaching reform. To cultivate students' lofty interest in aesthetics and develop students' aesthetic ability have become one of the teaching purposes, and aesthetic education in Chinese teaching has drawn many people's attention. However, as time passes and with the development of photographic technology, we enter a picture-reading era, in which visual culture brought by pictures and films has greatly affected Chinese teaching, meanwhile, the downpour of pictures have pushed the pure literary works to an embarrassed situation of edge. Students tend to appreciate aesthetics through the visual feast, as a result, their aesthetic interest and tendency have changed more or less. Take such situation into consideration, we must rethink and further deliberate the aesthetic education in our Chinese Teaching process.Although the aesthetic education in Chinese teaching currently has drawn many people's attention, it is still very rare for people to analyze aesthetic education under the backgrounds of picture-reading era. When picture prevails in the way for people to get information and recognize the world, its extrusion and erosion to the Chinese Characters become an undeniable fact. When aesthetics meets picture reading and the information explosion makes people tired of aesthetics, will picture-reading era bring us plight or delight? Being confronted with the shock of pictures, how can the aesthetic education in Chinese teaching survive and thrive? How can we grasp the opportunity the pictures bring us?With all these questions, this paper focuses on the aesthetic education in Chinese teaching in picture-reading era, begins from the changes in Chinese teaching in picture-reading era, discusses pictures, Chinese Characters, Aesthetic Education and their internal relationships, analyzes the plight in aesthetic education and explores the feasible solutions to aesthetic education in Chinese Teaching.In this paper the author holds that Chinese Characters, as the sophisticated form and important heritage for human civilization, its aesthetic effect and profound influence is still irreplaceable in our society. Picture or any other photography, as the plane and direct artistry, always need Characters' help to realize its logic height and expressive power. Although pictures take some active roles in aesthetic education, it can not be separated from Chinese characters.Based on the plight that the aesthetic education has encountered in Chinese teaching, this paper further explores the misinterpretation of daily pan-aesthetics and the destruction of superficial reading to aesthetic education in Chinese teaching. it proposes that in aesthetic education, we must fully take the advantages of Chinese characters itself, advance the optimization and reorganization of Chinese characters and pictures, and integrate the visual immediacy with written expressiveness so as to make the process lively and actively.Therefore, in the picture-reading era, aesthetic education should try some new methods. In this paper, the author widely discusses the proper utilization of the pictures and multi-media in the teaching process, attempts to explore the solutions to aesthetic education in Chinese teaching so as to provide some new perspectives and concepts for the Chinese educators.So far, humanity is permeating and expanding in Chinese Teaching, as a result, the role of the aesthetic education has become more prominent. To advocate aesthetic education is to demand the teachers to bring more enjoyment to the students in aesthetics. To accomplish this purpose, we should combine the features of the times with our teaching activities. Meanwhile, we should be aware that picture-reading era brings not only plight but also opportunities for aesthetic education. As Chinese educators, we should face the music and grasp the opportunities to improve Chinese teaching and aesthetic education.
