Textbooks, as students' learning resources and learning tools, are foundation to attain teaching objectives and educational effect. With the reform in curriculum further on , being put into practice is the policy to diversify versions in textbooks under the guidance of National Curriculum Standards. Facing the diversified textbooks, how to analyze and evaluate the textbooks in reasonable and scientific way, becomes an improtant issue.This research chooses two editions of English textbooks as comparative objects, one is "Go for it",which was used before in junior school of ShenYang ; the other one, "Oxford English(ShenYang Editon)" is currently used in junior school of ShenYang. Three research methods,documentary,comparative, analytical are adopted in this study. It compares and analyses the surface-layer structure of the two editions of textbook in some aspects, such as organazation system, content choosing, column designing, pictures. At the same time, this research also makes a complete comparison and analysis in the aspect of the deep-layer structure, which includes emotional and attitudinal elements, culture consciousness elements, konwledge elements, language skill elements. Based on the comparision and analysis, a survey is done on the current status of "Oxford English(ShenYang Editon)".The strongpoints and shortcomings of "Oxford English(ShenYang Edition)" are summarized and presented.In the last chapter, some suggestions for teachers and writers are put forward on how to improve and perfect the textbooks.
