The present physics teaching in the secondary school is still focusing on force-feed teaching and students' passive learning, because teachers in the secondary schools are steadily affected by the old-fashioned idea of exam-oriented education.. Teachers lay emphasis on theoretic explanation rather than students' ability to discuss, practice and explore. Meanwhile, students receive knowledge in a passive way. As a result, students are reduced to the victims of pattern drills. Their curiosity and exploration are ignored, which limits their creative and practical abilities. That's why we introduce "situation teaching" mode, a new method adapted to creative teaching. In the course of teaching, teachers purposefully set real, vivid, concrete and familiar situation or atmosphere so as to stimulate students' attitunal and action experience, to activate students' situational thinking and to excite students' exploration. Thus, students can understand and construct knowledge. Their ability to solve problem and creative thinking are cultivated. The center of situation teaching is situation setting, so the research on how to apply situation setting in physics teaching in high school matters much to us.Considering the characteristics in physics teaching and writer's own experience, this thesis explores the relative theories and operational strategies in the application of situation setting in the physics course and therefore promote the efficiency of physics teaching.This thesis consists of five sections.In the first section, the author analyze general situation of physics teaching in high school, including the characteristics of physics teaching, aims of high school physics teaching, necessity of strengthen situation teaching and the current status of situation teaching and development of situation setting home and abroad.In the second section the author illustrates the general theory of situation teaching, the definition situation teaching and its main procedures.In the third section, readers will have a good idea of the center of situation teaching—situation setting. Morever, theory basis, methods and principles of situation setting are also described in detail.In the fourth section the author discusses the strategies and methods in macro and micro spectrums. In the macro view, key points of situation setting are listed; in the micro view, combined with concrete teaching examples, situation setting strategies in theory teaching, rules teaching, experiment teaching and exercise teaching are explained,In a word, though situation setting in physics teaching is not complete enough and further discussion is on the way. It is sure to be experimented and improved in the teaching practice.
