The foundation of private schools was just during the early days of our reformation opening up to the outside world. Situated in Pudong, with the diversified needs of education for society, as well as the superior geographic location, Private A School is forging rapidly. With the development of modern society, however, the school is taking a disadvantaged turn, the competition among which tends to aggravate gradually. Therefore, the school needs to promote its own core competitiveness, which, proved by a few years' practice, is school culture. This paper has taken an activity, named "Smiling Action", to improve school culture and establish a harmonious environment for work, study and life, making all the students, staff and parents feel the magic of smile.The paper has done a theoretical research to the meaning of smile, and then carried on the study of "Smiling Action" at school, to observe the effects of smile on school core competitiveness, through several sectors on pre-test, planning, implementation, post-test and conclusion. This paper takes "smile" as a starting point, which is very simple but overlooked easily, and focuses on the factors of the connection and interaction among students, staff and parents, making use of interviews, questionnaires and the blog, to find, introspect, readjust and solve the problems. At the same time, the school administrators should raise a profound realization that management is art and topic forever.This paper is divided into six parts. The introduction is mainly about the history of development and the achievements of A School, as well as the problems faced by the school during the social transformation of China.Charpter 1 In order to find the breach of school development, this chapter takes "Smiling Action" as an essential point, puts forward the action research and explores the impact of smile on school culture and school core competitiveness.Charpter 2 to 4 On the base of pre-test and combined relative theories with interviews , these chapters analyze the subjects of theaction-the staff, students, parents-who are also the objects.According to their needs, a program is made, and meanwhile, on the progress of implement, the program is readjusted continually. After the post-test, the whole "Smiling Action" research completed.Charpter 5 Through the observation to the staff, students and parents in "Smiling Action", and the integration with school culture and core competitiveness, new findings are discovered and the conclusion of this action research is made.
