Since the Third Educational Conference in 1999, historic changes have taken place in higher education field. In order to adapt to the nation's request of advancing the development of higher education, some higher schools bravely tried operating independent colleges through making use of their own educational and teaching resources to attract the social funds. After several years' development, a group of independent colleges, which are welcome in all walks of life and have higher quality in running schools, have arisen. However, as a new force, inevitably, they are still immature and maybe they will bring a shock to the higher education system, so some scholars and social persons queried the validity of their existence. Under such a condition, studying independent colleges is more meaningful. Therefore, combining with her own practice, based on explaining their production and basic features, the writer mainly analyzes the existing problems in their development and proposes some feasible suggestion.In introduction, beginning with the historic background and the problems of independent colleges, the writer presented her own research train of thoughts and research aim.In Part 2, the writer mainly defined the pattern of. running independent colleges Beginning with the basic concepts, the writer analyzed their production and development and the differentiation and association between the independent colleges and state-owned second-level colleges on a non-state basis, government-funded higher schools and non-state colleges, at the same time, he writer pointed out the basic features of independent colleges. as for some common patterns of running independent colleges in China, from a cooperating angle, the writer pointed out their respective advantages and disadvantages after analyzing and comparing different types of independent colleges.In Part 3, the writer mainly presented the existing problems and proposed some feasible suggestion. This part is the most important in this article. In the system for running independent colleges, there is not a well-defined power and responsibility and financing channel is not wide enough. In the operating system, independent colleges need to perfect the internal operating system.In Part 4, building up modern property system and making the ownership clearly established, improving the board management system and making the power and responsibility between the college and the board well-defined, constructing legal person responsibility system and making the power and responsibility of various departments in the college well-defined, giving importance to process building, strengthening faculty building, rationalizing major establishment, enhancing teaching management.
