Research On The Defects Of University In China

University City, which has boomed in China in recent years is one kind of new system form and organizational structure. It is a product of the expansion of higher education and the central cities'construction. It is the pacemaker of regional economies and loudspeaker of local authorities'achievements in post, as the policy mission and the benefit mission are bigger than the cultural mission. University City is large in quantity and area, but it's hard to achieve the anticipated goal because of its own construction and external influence. With the sustained and rapid development of economy in China from 2001 to 2007, many cities are making effort to become the regional centers. In the situation of relying on science and education to rejuvenate the nation, the knowledge innovation, drawing needs, the university enrollment expansion and urbanization, all levels of local authority integrate various society resources and strongly advocates for building the University Cities in the suburbs and developing higher education. Although the time is short, the oncoming force is turbulent. Up to 2006, the newly built University Cities have amounted to 64. In several years of disorderly constructions, lessons tend to be more than experiences. Many defects were completely exposed after 2003, which made the present situation extremely difficult. So it's urgently necessary to summarize the lessons and make research on theories for the guidance of the future work.In view of the above background, this thesis has done the following research : Firstly it cards the development course of University City in China since 1998 and analyzes the background of turbulent oncoming force of University City; Secondly it systemically introduces two patterns of University City abroad :"natural development"and"planning construction", and four patterns in China as well: government-leading, venture-investment and multi-investment, seeking the differences of University City between China and foreign countries with the comparison analysis and gaining valuable experiences from University Cities abroad; Thirdly it takes the Quanzhou University City as the case, analyzes the present situation of our University City and summarizes a series of problems existent; Fourthly it reconsiders positively the political and economical reasons which leads to the awkward situation of our University City, and illustrates that it's wrong to be eager for quick success and instant benefit when building University City, seeing through the appearance to perceive the essence and considering its inner regulations calmly; Fifthly, based on the front information, it infers that University City construction in China is still going on in the future with relatively stable quantity and higher quality, and gives certain creative suggestions of supervising and managing the plan and construction of University City by the country.
