The reform and development of Chinese language education depends on the improvement of the Chinese language teachers'quality of life. However, the lack of life consciousness, respect for and meditation on the meaning and value of life is so prevalent even among the Chinese language teachers themselves. The quality of Chinese language teacher is a key factor for the healthy development of Chinese language education. In the discussions about the quality of Chinese language teachers, their level of knowledge, professional skills, and professionalism are often mentioned, and their character is sometimes touched as well. However, character in these discussions usually refers to their moral and health character rather than their aesthetic character, which is closely related to the life and career of Chinese language teachers. The thesis argues that the aesthetic character is not only the essential quality of teachers, but also the fountainhead of their other qualities.Aesthetic character, as an expectation of the character growth, is an ideal character in the aesthetic sense. It means that people's spiritual outlook is of the aesthetic characteristic, showing the basic characteristics of harmony, individuality, freedom, transcending, creativity and so on. The thesis attempts to define and characterize the aesthetic character of the Chinese language teachers in terms of freedom, individuality, creativity and transcending.Aesthetics not only means the fundamental source of the humanistic spirit of Chinese language education, but also embodies the perfectness of the instrumentality and humanism of the Chinese language discipline. Chinese language teaching means precisely the aesthetic process and aesthetic activity simultaneously. Chinese language teaching guided by the aesthetic character of Chinese language teachers, running throughout with aesthetic factors, should be carried out according to aesthetic laws so as to realize the value of the Chinese language discipline. At the same time, as a Hidden Curriculum of Chinese language education, the Chinese language teacher's aesthetic character plays an important part in the Chinese language teaching. Nowadays, it is a remarkable phenomenon that, Chinese language teachers, facing many difficulties and perplexities, lack perfect aesthetic character. Based on various phenomena in realities, the thesis explores and summarizes the historical and factual causes of the lack of perfect aesthetic character of Chinese language teachers and proposes some strategies and principles for cultivating their aesthetic character.The thesis is a study both reflecting on the present existential and psychological state of Chinese language teachers and expecting their ideal life and character. By this research, we hope to help Chinese language teachers improve their sense of professional satisfaction and happiness, making them have a happy and perfect career. Only in this way, Chinese language education could be on the right way to sound growth.
