Curriculum resources are the necessary support and guarantee of promoting curriculum construction and deepening the curriculum reform of the pre-college education in China. However, there are lots of disadvantages concerning with the curriculum resources. The main disadvantages include taking the textbook as the sole curriculum resource, ignorance of the value of curriculum resources, and separation of the exploration and utilization of curriculum resources from autonomous learning. In the context of learner autonomy, this thesis is intended to clarify the following questions: What are curriculum resources and how are they related with learner autonomy? How to use and develop English curriculum resources? What roles do they play in the transformation of learning style and the improvement of learner autonomy? The thesis is divided into three parts to answer the questions.The first part introduces the present situation and the theoretical foundation of the research. Firstly, we analyze the concept and characteristics of learner autonomy and curriculum resources, as well as their close relationship. Secondly, we elaborate the theoretical foundation of the research, i.e., Krashen's Input Hypothesis, dominant philosophies of learning and humanism. Thirdly, we explicit the contents of English curriculum resources and practice of the developing and utilizing them, so that we can attach much importance of the development and utilization of English curriculum resources to learner autonomy, which is the foundation of the research hypothesis.The second part puts forward the hypothesis of this research and shows an experiment on the basis of relevant studies. The hypothesis is that we can change the learning style and promote learner autonomy by way of using and developing curriculum resources. In order to testify the positive role that course resources can play in learner autonomy, the writer has done an experiment which lasted for eight months. In the experiment we explore into the approaches of using and developing curriculum resources and practice the following aspects: making best use of the English textbook, developing English network resources with the help of modern medium technology, developing English newspaper and magazine resources according to students' interests, developing broadcasting and televising resources; and developing other material and manpower resources.The third part draws the research conclusion and summarizes the thesis. We draw the conclusion according to the analysis of data acquired from the questionnaires and interviews in the research. We conclude that developing and utilizing English curriculum resources are of great benefit to students' English study, students' learning autonomy and teachers' professional development. Finally, further areas of research and weakpoints of the thesis are proposed in the end.
