In educational and psychological field, the study of variables which can influence students'learning achievement has been hot for a long time. The results of the study show that foreign language learning is an intricate interplay between intellective and non-intellective variables. The course of a person's learning and growth is interactive between intellect and non-intellect but decided by non-intellect.The success or failure of English teaching mainly depends on learners. The intelligence is very important, but non-intelligence can't be neglected as well. In English teaching, the development of learners'non-intelligence must be paid enough attention to. Non-intelligence mostly includes motivation, interest, will and characters and so on. In daily teaching, teachers should make sure of learners'motivation and impulse their interests and help them develop good learning habits.This paper discusses how to foster non-intelligence in improving or promoting the quality of English classroom teaching. Also it is a paper which explores how non-intelligence influences and plays its part. It does good for English teaching and promotes teachers'teaching level and as well, it makes a new way and enriches types of English teaching, which makes school teaching out of traditional ways.This paper is a discussion about middle school students'psychological development and non-intelligence which they show in English learning process, that is, motivation, affect, character, will and so on. All these can make teachers realize the importance of non-intelligence in English teaching. Teachers should clear the aim, increase their interests and cultivate their good habits in learning English. Teachers should also properly develop and make sure of students'non-intelligence, at the same time, bring the potential into full play to reach the goal of humanistic teaching.
