By documentation, interviewing, surveying and statistics research methods, the paper analyzes the coaching ability characteristics of ideal coaches in the minds of high level tennis players, and analyzes the difference between the coaching ability characteristics of ideal coaches and present coaches; the paper studies coaching ability requirement difference among different gender, age & education level athletes; through the coaching ability characteristics'contrast in ideal coaches and present coaches, the paper shows the similarities and differences between the two in order to further improve the high level professional tennis coaches'coaching level as reference. The results show:1. The ideal capacity characteristics of coaches(1)Rich professional knowledge; appropriate organization of training; join awareness training; reasonable arrangements for the recovery time and method; Accurate diagnosis the state of athletes in training and competition;imagery training; help athletes to overcome the negative factors.(2)The ideal characteristics of management capabilities with coaches: the ability to continue encourage members; high rate transmission to the high-level sports teams; encourage team members to advice; efforts to the trust of athletes; help athletes to win the supportive of community;Adopt the views of members; believe the ability of athletes fully; Emphasize work skills and do not mean recognition of unambiguous criticism.(3)The ideal characteristics of research capability: use the information correctly; familiar with campaign material; skilled computer to analysis information which collected from the training,Know a foreign language to understand the basic information of tennis; Summarize by the study of training and competition.(4)About the ability of scientific research, the ideal performance of the coaches : the ability to change plans; solve the problems in training and competition Sensitively;Applied scientific and technological achievements; study the training methods from other projects;forecast the prospects; no limited in experience; questioned the ability of existing training methods.(5)the ideal of the interpersonal : the ability to get trust from players; the cohesion of training members; control their own emotions; Strengthen communication with the players, their parents and colleagues; build family ties with team members; treat the fault of athletes in competitions and training scientific.(6)The ideal ability of self-improvement are: the professionalism of coaches; accumulated on the basis of professional theory and strengthening their ability as a model; pragmatic style in work, the right self-evaluation; do what they say; told the responsibility to members clearly. Based on the above coaching ability characteristics of ideal coaches, through analysis of different gender, age, education and sports level, the paper shows athletes are different, and differences in varying degrees. At the same time, they are very different between present coaches and ideal coaches, which require present coaches to improve their coaching ability. What's more, the improvement must be comprehensive and targeted. Only by this way, it will be possible to achieve the best coaching performance.
