Physics is a branch of natural science, which aims at the study of basic structure and general interaction of material, general rules of motion, practical manners and ideological methodology. For the aforementioned features of this subject, it has already attracted the necessary attention from teachers, students and parents in the conduction of physics teaching in the middle school stage.The new edition of the Course Criterion puts the objectives of physics study in the following way:"Physics for senior middle school is a basic course of natural sciences for students, which links the previous nine-year compulsory study stage in primary school and junior middle school to further improve the scientific qualities of students."However, in the practice of physics study, many first-year students of senior middle school are faced up with confusion for the subtle difference in learning objectives and knowledge structure of physics between junior middle school and senior middle school, as well as the unready psychological preparation and improvement of students as in their junior middle school stage. Consequently, there appears the so-called studying step phenomenon.The writer of this paper examines and studies the transitional stage of physics teaching between junior middle school and senior middle school through the analysis on learning materials, cognitive psychology, pedagogical psychology, and the contemporary teaching theory. This paper maintains the perspective of learner-oriented study, analyzing such learner factors as cognitive state, learning aptitude, emotion and interest, and knowledge transfer, therefore proposing the relative teaching strategies. In teaching practice, a teacher is suggested and supposed to follow a gradual process to improve students'ability of observation, memory, practice and imagination, thus providing proper teaching scaffolding for the transition of physics study between junior middle school and senior middle school.This paper tries to study and solve the problem of the transition of physics learning between junior middle school and senior middle school through the perspective of both teaching and learning in hope of providing a certain consultation and reference to senior middle school teachers in their conduction of teaching practice.
