The geography is the science that studies the geographical environment and the human activity and the geographical environment reciprocity. The map is the geography information important carrier, the nearly all geography course content needs to draw support in the map side can indicate completely,"the map is the geography second language","the map is the geography class eye", does not have the map not to be impossible to have the geography, will not have the map geography knowledge not to have the root, will not have the map to be also unable to carry on the geography teaching. It is not good at utilizing map's geography teaching, also cannot be the successful geography teaching. The map is in the geography teaching the essential stage prop. May improve students' intelligent structure and the wisdom quality through the map teaching, raise student's power of observation, the imagination, the thought strength, the memory and so on, enables students' intelligence to obtain the development.This article"Research on raising students'intelligence with maps in Geography teaching of junior middle school"as a topic, in synthesizes in predecessors' research results foundation, does the union questionnaire survey, how explore promotes the students' intelligence raise using the map teaching, how in the new curriculum reform process which carries on to carry on the map teaching for the Junior middle school to provide certain theory and the practice instruction. Through analyzing some theories on map teaching experiences, the paper acquires the following results:The map teaching holds the important status freely in the traditional geography teaching, but the map teaching has not obtained the widespread reasonable application in the field research process. How to develop students' intelligence through the map teaching research is very weak. Students' intelligence has not been developed completely through the map teaching.According to the theory of psychology and advanced theory of teaching in and abroad. On the basis of geography new lesson standard, the study about students' intelligence and ability by using map teaching was developed. Map teaching not only raise students' ability of reading maps, but also raise students' kinds of abilities, and also have great influence on students' intelligence. The article analyzes the relationship between the map teaching and raising students' intelligence and ability, it also mentions the strategy of promoting the development of the students' intelligence and ability.How to adapt map teaching under the new situation is one important challenge which every geography teacher are facing. Geography teachers must value not only in their thoughts, but must unceasingly strengthen their map teaching ability, adapt the request of the time to map teaching.
