The ancient prose is a kind of elegant and laconic Chinese written language,which is formed during the long history of China. It dated back to Zhou Dynasty, prospered in Tang, Song Dynasties and went down to New Culture Movement, which is of long standing and leaves precious spiritual treasures to the future generations. Therefore, ancient prose teaching plays an extremely important role in high school Chinese teaching, which is also an important research subject.However, there are some prominent problems in high school ancient prose teaching at present. New curriculum reform promotes people-oriented, calls for the return of humanistic spirit, respects personality development of students and focuses on their overall development. It also requires high school Chinese courses should reflect common values of high school education and focus on improving the overall quality of students. Among all, it emphasizes inheriting and carrying forward traditional culture of the nation, developing and cultivating the important function of national spirit. Through the study of ancient prose literature, students can have edification from culture, build a spiritual character for loving our country, nation and devoting to human progress, form a healthy and good feelings and the progressive attitude towards life, and lay the foundation for spirit. How can we fulfill the task of inheriting and carrying forward the traditional culture of our nation, realize the real value of ancient prose teaching and the ultimate aim of education under the guide of the reform concept, especially when high school students are in an important period when their outlook on the world, life, value and character quality are being formed?The author takes the problems and countermeasures of high school ancient prose teaching as the research subject. The author introduces some cases to complete the paper, based on a great deal of literature review, the investigation and statistical analysis of frontline teaching.The body part of the paper consists of three parts. The first part introduces the teaching goals and value orientation of high school ancient prose teaching under new curriculum concept. The second part makes a research on the problems of high school ancient prose teaching and their causes of forming. The third part tries to supply countermeasures for these problems mentioned in the second part under the guide of new curriculum concept.The use of"ancient prose"is intended to closely focus on the new curriculum concept and take"ancient prose"concept as a whole by including classical Chinese, ancient poetry and classical Chinese novel. The paper tries to explore problems of high school ancient prose teaching and their causes from four aspects---society, teachers, students and evaluation system. It also tries to supply countermeasures for these problems. The paper aims to form a new high school prose teaching system and realize the education goals through teaching traditional culture.
