The Study Of The Donation To American Higher Education

Beginning with the history of the donations to American higher education ,the dissertation discusses the intrinsic and extrinsic factors affecting the development of the donations to American higher education , and attempts to sum up laws and characteristics about the development of donations to American higher education .Reflecting on the present situation of the development of donations to Chinese higher education , according to the comparison of some key elements, the paper deals with how Chinese university should learn from the success of American university donation.The dissertation is divided into five chapters:Chapter 1 describes the history of the donation to American higher education. It is divided into four stages, which deal with the development of donations to each stage, and analyses the factors which make an important impact on the development of donation to American higher education through social conditions.Chapter 2 describes the present situation of donation of higher education , analyses the characteristic of the donation ,and try to explore the frame of the donation mechanism.Chapter 3 proceeds with the several factors which play an important role in the development of donation. These factors mainly include culture, motivation and laws. And it will try to reveal the relationships between the factors and the development of donations. The cultural factors contain two aspects which are national culture and philanthropy giving culture. The motivation includes reputation and economic interests . They make a different influence to the development of donations. At last, analyzes the philanthropy law and tax law which assure the development of higher education.Chapter 4 deals with the management of donations to American higher education .American universities gain much successful experience in managing donated fund, such as Harvard University and University of California , Compared with the two universities, we can know that how Chinese university foundations shall learn from the success of American university foundations.Chapter 5 analyzes the necessities and possibilities about the donation of higher education in China, and tries to construct the mechanism of donation , and at the same time we should develop educational donation culture in the entire society and promote its sustainable development.
