A Study On Clark Kerr's Ideas Multiversity

Clark Kerr was one of the higher education thinkers who have the greatest reputation in contemporary America, he had plentiful works and awarded innumerable honors during his life time, he also gave make outstanding contribution to the reform and the development of the American contemporary higher education, particularly, the concept of "the philosophy of Multiversity" which was put forward by him setting up an abundant meaning and profound university principle system. This thesis has a foothold as for the research concerning on the meaning and age characteristic of multiversity which was put forward by Kerr, the aim is giving a meaningful apocalypse to the discussion of theories and reform of practice about giant university in our country.This thesis discusses the historical social condition to the occurrence of multiversity by Clark Kerr firstly, after the simple introduction about Kerr and his practical activities, the main dissertation is about the ages of background and the original theories to occurrence of multiversity. Then, dissertated about concept of multiversity and the main contents of multiversity. On this foundation, using the method of the contrast to find out the representative characteristics, significance and localization of multiversity. Lastly integrate with the challenge and the present development of our country's giant university, then carry on re-introspecting of Kerr's multiversity, and provide a new analytical angle of view to the foreground development of our giant university.In brief, because of the short history and the faster development as well as lack of practical experience and have poor theoretical guidance and so on reasons about our giant universities, Thus, there are many questions remained to be solved urgently. Therefore, by studying the philosophy of multiversity which was proposed by Clark Kerr, will have important contribution to our giant universities not only practiced aspect but also theoretical side.
