Basic education Curriculum reforms for English courses require that the majority ofEnglish teachers promptly change their outdated teaching conceptions and teachingactivities, in order to promote the development of their own profession and improve theall-round improvements of their students in the academic achievements smoothly andscientifically. However, as a result of our long-term dual education division system'sinfluence, the English teaching in the rural junior middle schools has been a greatdifficult problem that puzzles the elementary education in the countryside, especially thefaraway and poorer parts in the countryside. As for the reasons, except for the long-termshortage of the investment to the elementary education constructions of the junior middleschools in the countryside, there are still more important reasons, such as the greater lagof the teaching conceptions of the rural English teachers, the actual separation betweentheir teaching conceptions and teaching activities and so on, which are so importantinternal reasons that can not be neglected. This research takes a county lying in thesoutheast Shandong Province as a case, and launches in the full theory proofs andtechnical preparation's foundation, in order to determine the distributions and types of thecountryside English teachers' teaching conceptions, then analyses the main reasons.Meanwhile, this study also gives some necessary suggestion on how to promote theirteaching conceptions further and how to reduce the influences of some hindering factorson the great gaps between their teaching conceptions and teaching activities.This paper is made up of five parts. Part One is about the backgrounds of this study,and the importance of the new Basic Education Curriculum Reforms for English Coursesis also referred. Part Two is mainly talking about the literature summary of this study, andothers′studies are also mentioned who are from abroad and at home. The third part isabout the research dimensions, the research objects and the research ways of this study andthe result analysis of this study. The forth part is about the research process and resultanalysis of this study. The fifth part is mainly about the present situation and reasons of theteaching conceptions of the English teachers. Meanwhile, there are some suggestionsabout how to promote the teaching conceptions of the English teachers in rural juniormiddle schools further and how to improve the teaching activities of them.
