Nowadays, social system is changing day by day, global informationization, economic in general ,science technology improving rapidly , messages are increasing constantly as well. People are not only facing more complex social questions and situations than before, but also confronting with many stresses and challenges. Along with the status of our country become more important among internationals, it no longer asks us to deal with the various social positions in traditional pattern .We must connect with the world education ,and bring up talents with innovational spirit and ability. In fact,the key of such innovation lies in the development of education and level of teachers. Teacher is an venerable occupation, however, the roles and the functions he or she plays are changing constantly. This is the necessary appeal for time, society, education and teaching innovation. The traditional role of teachers excessively emphasize on teachers'authority and knowledge's transferring, meanwhile, ignore a chain of limitness about teachers living conditions. In addition, with the transform of society, education and courses ,the expectations of the society become more and more higher, and the teachers survival situation of the reality, teachers must re-understanding of the role of teachers'connotation to improve their ability to adapting to the role. That is the starting point of this research.The study is conducted literature review, questionnaire, and interviewing method. First, we collected some literature in this aspect to have an general idea of what a traditional teacher's role is and the status quo of research on it with a view to fully presenting a teacher's role. Second, a field survey has been conducted in a number of middle schools totally 18 in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Zhejiang and Guangdong. The study is also based on interviews with some middle school teachers to have an in-depth understanding of what a teacher's role is from a teacher's angle and how well they have adapted themselves to the role, to search anything new to a teacher's role, to spot factors hindering a teacher's role adaptive capability, to reflect on the current situation of role- performing by middle school teachers in China and make some suggestions.This thesis is divided into five parts.The first part concerning the proposals, discussed the study of the origin and other issues.The second part is a literature review of what a teacher's role is, centering on the concept of a teacher's role and researches conducted in this aspect both at home and abroad. On the basis of the above-mentioned analysis, we find that research into a teacher's role has been too much concentration while empirical research is far from enough. The third part is theoretical study, mainly from the teacher's role adaptation, the adaptation ability of teachers'role and composition, discussing the ability of adapting the role of teachers in the relevant theoretical foundation, and several other aspects. Ability of adapting to the role of school teachers is that teachers cannot adapt to different roles and have to adjust on conflicts, then to adapt to the requirements of the role. The main ability, including teacher's role cognitive ability, teacher education and teaching ability, teacher interpersonal skills, teachers psychological adjustment ability, and several other areas.The forth part is the practical research on ability of adapting to the role of school teachers. On several aspects from the purpose of the study, study objects, research tools and research results. Because the ability of adapting to the role of school teachers includes higher levels and impact of factors, it is difficult to fully taken into account. Therefore, the main survey questionnaire for school teachers as targets, combining with interviews of school teachers. In the structure of the sample design also takes into account the sex of school teachers, the year of teaching, education and other factors.The fifth part is the empirical analysis and discussion the adapting ability to the role of school teachers research. Mainly from the demographic characteristics of the variables and the factors of adapting ability to the role of school teachers.The sixth part is the proposal concerning the ability of adapting to the role of school teachers and the existence of the inadequacy of research. Mainly from the teachers themselves, the community and schools to make recommendations.
