In the development process of market economy in China and higher education reform, students in normal university(SNU) face with the impact of admissions policies, graduation distribution and access to qualified teachers system ,which no doubt provides many new requirements to SNU . But examining the status of general quality education of SNU, the writer finds that there are many questions including the ideology and morality, science and culture, personal ability, physical and mental development on the basis of the literature research, observation and interviews on SNU, seriously affecting the educational quality and effectiveness of SNU. As to inadequacies of SNU, this article suggests a set of four aspects of countermeasures: rationalization of admissions policies, optimization of curriculum and teaching plan, deepening of the working of the student management departments, improvements of working of counselors and headteachers in order to provide some useful recommendations to the development of SNU and their general quality education.
