Under the advocacy of Premier Wen Jiabao, from the autumn of 2007, the six ministry-owned Normal universities began to implement the project of state-financed Normal University Students. Facing this new opportunity of development, the six ministry-owned normal universities all started to make new policies and high-level goals of development for those state-financed university students, in the hope of training them into talents who are competent in the elementary education.Teachers'professional quality is the basic and universal quality, which is related with teacher's profession and is formed and developed on the basis of individual quality. It is the necessary trait and quality for teachers to be competent in educating and teaching activities. The formation and development process of teachers'professional quality is also the process of teachers'professional development and growth. How is the teachers'professional quality of the state-financed normal university students developed? And what are the factors that influence the development? All of these problems are to be studied in this paper.This paper starts from the structure of teachers'professional quality, clarifying the structure of chemistry normal university students'professional quality at the very beginning. Then it investigates the developing status of chemistry normal students'teacher professional quality and factors affected during the period of learning subject matter knowledge, from the following four aspects: normal students'professional education curriculum learning, the general education curriculum learning, the participation in teaching activities beyond the class and their understanding of teachers'profession. Finally, this paper makes some comments on the researching conclusion, aiming to provide some reference for pre-service teachers'professional development research.This paper altogether includes the following four parts:The first part is the introductory part. It gives a brief introduction to research reason, research content, research purpose and significance and research method.The second part is the theory foundation of the study. It defines state-financed normal university students and teachers'professional quality. And it summarizes the formation and development of teachers'professional quality, curriculum provision of normal education and the structure of teachers'professional quality, on which basis it draws a conclusion on the quality that the chemistry normal students should possess on the stage of subject matter knowledge learning.The third part is the main body of the study. It carries on research and analysis on the formation and development in the subject knowledge learning stage and the factors affected of state-financed normal students, who are from the major of chemistry, 2008, through questionnaire and interview.The fourth part is the conclusion and the comments. It draws a conclusion for the whole paper at the same time puts forth several suggestions on normal university students, university teachers and college curriculum provision.
