In this thesis, work engagement of middle school teachers was investigated in Henan province. Based on the JD-R model, we studied the relationship between the organization factors (job demand and resource variables) and engagement. The influence of Type A behavior was also discussed. The research explored the influence of organization factors and personal factors to work engagement. The purpose of this thesis was to enrich the demonstration research of job well-being, and to provide theoretical basis for the intervention for work engagement as well.By means of cluster sampling, 573 middle school teachers from 10 middle schools were surveyed in Nanyang, Pingdingshan, Luoyang and Sanmenxia. Seven scales were used, which were UWES,Work Load Scale, Human Consume and Conflict Scale, Work-home Conflict Scale, Work Support Scale for Middle-school Teachers, Automy and Feedback Scales, Possibility for Professional Development Scale. All effective datum were analyzed by the means of correlation analysis, multivariate analysis of variance, confirmatory factor analysis and regression analysis.The main findings were as follows:First, Middle school teacher's scores in work engagement scale and in vigor,dedication and absorption were between 3 and 4.The score of vigor factor was higher than the other factors.Second, with the independent vairables of gender,school type,duty and of school age, multifactor variant analysis showed that the main effect on of school age was significant in work engagement.That is,the level of work engagement of under 2-year's of school age middle-school teacher was significantly higher than that of between 2 to 20-year's. Multifactor variant analysis on the independent vairables of gender, level of education, school type and duty showed there were significant inter-correlation between the school type,duty and the level of education.Third, path analysis on the JD-R modle of work engagement showed that job demands variable,including workload, human consume and conflict and work-home conflict,influenced absorption, path coefficient was 0.69,while the job resource variable,including work support, automy and feedback and possibility for professional development,influenced the three factors of work engagement,the path coeffcient was 0.03,0.73 and 0.65.Last, regression analysis showed that work support and TH(Time Hurry and Urgency factor) could significantly predict work engagement.But the effect of the CH (Impatience/ Irritability) was not significant.The conclusions indicate:First,the overall status of middle-school teachers'work engagement is all right. The work engagement differs between different of shool age.Senond,Job Demands has direct influence on absorption,while Job Resources has dircet influence on all of the three factors of work engagement.Third,Time Hurry and Urgency factor of type A behavior is a positive predictor of the work engagement.
