Mastering and accumulating a large vocabulary is essential in Chinese learning. As is known, Chinese is rich in vocabulary and there are various forms of fixed phrases, among them are idioms. Chinese idioms are concise in the form and incisive in the meaning. Whether in form or content, they highly embody the quintessence of Chinese culture, showing that vocabulary system is a dazzling treasure. Chinese idioms are important resources when students learn the language of the motherland. It is also the important medium for inheriting our wonderful national traditions and wisdom .Idiom, as a special group in the Chinese vocabulary, has an important position in teaching in secondary schools.In the Senior Entrance Exam and the university entrance exam, which are thought to be of great important guiding significance to the Chinese teaching, idioms are frequently tested. Therefore, the teaching of idioms in secondary schools should never be taken lightly. At present, the research of idoms teaching in secondary schools is still relatively weak, and there is a lack of systematic study on it and a lack of specific guidance. In this paper, by analysing the idoms tested in the exams and having statistical analysis about how students use idioms of and basing on relevant literature, the author first makes it clear that the idiom teaching is very important in secondary schools Chinese teaching, and then classify students'errors into 4 types,i.e,errors in the form of writing, misunderstanding of the semantics, syntax errors and the errors in using.Through studying the causes of the errors the author tries to explore the content and effective teaching methods and strategies in idioms teaching.
