An Investigation Of Career Maturity

This paper is to explore the characteristics of the development of career maturity, to find out the current situations and the variability of students' career maturity as well, in the light of the discussion of the documents and the analysis of the questionnaires. This paper also analyzes its influential factors, and puts forward some advice to the vocational guidance for the students. This research mainly adopts the method of questionnaires, with senior high school students, vocational students, undergraduates, and postgraduates in Shanghai as target groups. By means of such statistical ways as average, T-test and variance, the conclusions are as follows:1. The overall career maturity is not high, and the vocational recognition, the application of the information, and the value are the three lowest factors.2. The career maturity scope of the students are various according to their degrees, with the result of the sequence from the high to the low: postgraduates>students in vocational colleges> students in senior vocational schools>undergraduates=senior high school students.3. Boys' attitudes toward career are maturity than that of the girls'.4. The more excellent their family background is, the higher their career maturity is.5. The stronger their vocational motivation is, the higher their career maturity is.6. The properer their vocational strategies are, the higher their career maturity is.7. The richer their environmental resources are, the higher their career maturity is.8. The more knowledgeable on career they are, the higher their career maturity is.9. The more practices they have, the higher their career maturity is.10. Vocational guidance can help improve students' career maturity.
