| Through the theories of documentation, interviews, questionnaires, mathematical statistics and comparative analysis, this article focuses on CUBA (China University Basketball Association) and NCAA division I Basketball Association (College Basketball Division I Assoicaiton of America) so as to compare the organization, league competition system, operating methods, laws and regulations, and personnel training between the two basketball associations, emphasizing on the league competition system and the concerning laws and regulations. This article identifies the key factors constraining the development of CUBA, and discusses the strategies for the rapid and healthy growing for the association. The concrete strategies are as the following: To divide the association into two levels, while each adopting the same competition system and to increase the quotas for the game in different districts in every level. We should promote grass-root tryouts into middle schools to expand audience scale and improve the reputation of the institutions, thus increasing the numbers of sponsors and further better the league brand effect. To introduce the shareholding system, and establish League Inc., encouraging the institutions involved to buy the same shares, enhance the enthusiasm, and strengthen the development and management of League's intangible assets; and we might as well ask the enterprises to title the game in certain period, thus reducing the financial burden of participating institutions. To set up a new organizing committee, that is, the eighth functional department, so that the laws and regulations within the association could be perfected, and we could avoid human factors' interference by the use of concerning laws and regulations. We should also enhance the cooperation with the United States to transport athletes, coaches and referees to the United States for training, or hire foreign experts to give lectures regularly in China, so as to raise the competitive level of association. For the purpose of better communication and cooperation with sports administration authority, the "merge" or "transformation" of Chinese Association of Young Men's Basketball could be advocated. Last but not least, we could organize university students to join in public service activities, cultivating the athletes' tender feelings and social responsibility and thus upgrading brand values of CUBA. |
