The social modernization of China has created a great demand for vocational education. Since schools are the main force of vocational education, how well the student management is done in vocational schools has a direct effect on the development of vocational education.Based on investigation and research into the present situation of the student management in China's secondary vocational schools, the purpose of this study was to produce an insight into the student managing work in these schools, to find out in the managing system and regulations the problems which obstruct the development of vocational schools'student management and thus make these schools unable to meet the needs of China's market-oriented economy, and to reach solutions to these problems.The study leads to the conclusion that the student management can be improved in the following ways: The structure should be optimized. Specifically speaking, the structure of the management should be simplified while a study-oriented organization is added. The speed at which education reacts to the needs and changes of society and market should be raised. Both educators and students need sufficient incentives. Check and supervision should be established to complete the regulations concerning student management so that every element of the system works. The competence of managers should be improved physically and mentally. They should have professional ethics and strong occupational adjustability.
