Research On Olympiad Mathematics Problem-solving

Mathematical Olympiad in fact is a problem-solving activity. Our country has made some significant results in studying Mathematics Olympiad, and a new mathematics branch has come into being, which called competition mathematics, or Olympiad Mathematics. Olympiad Mathematics education faces the students with mathematical genius. Those students very smart, and have very powerful initiative in study. The thinking characteristic of Olympiad Mathematics problem-solving coincides with those students' thinking characteristic.The study of problem-solving theory and Mathematics Olympiad has been a long time. But people still feel that Olympiad Mathematics problem-solving is different from conventional problem-solving. Many people think that Olympiad Mathematics problem-solving has no orderly ways, so their attitude toward Olympiad Mathematics is negative.This paper first reviewed several primary points of view about problem-solving. Base on those points of view, this paper put forward a systematic thinking process of Olympiad Mathematics problem-solving according to mathematical genius students' thinking characteristic. Some examples are given to illustrate this process. Following the previous section, in order to improve the students' Olympiad Mathematics problem-solving ability, the author gave some personal advice in the paper. Finally, this paper briefly discussed the application of computer in problem-solving.The study of the thinking characteristic of Olympiad Mathematics problem-solving intent to quest for the rule of Olympiad Mathematics problem-solving, and eliminate the prejudice against Olympiad Mathematics, as to build up the confidence in Olympiad Mathematics problem-solving.
