Teachers have been experiencing role conflict in the specialized development profoundly for long-term . However, just like R. K. Meton, a US sociologist, estimating on the research of role conflict in the 1960s, "It has been mainly limited to the superficial explanation for a long time" , the result is still suitable for the situation today. The analysis of Literature shows that, on teachers' role conflict, there is more whole discussion than concrete stratification, more theory than experience, more angle of Pedagogy and Psychology than that of Educational sociology. The article tries to improve this kind of imbalance. Taking the teachers of common public middle school in cities as object of study, it is mainly about the connotation, type, degree and social origin of teachers' role conflict, to lay the foundation for further proposing solution strategy. By the method of literature, questionnaire and interview, trying to break the convention of separating experience from theory in the composition style, the result is following: Former study, on the foundation of classification, has few further involves for which is the most universal and most intense. People involving it often believe that the conflict between teachers' social spokesman role and colleague role is the most intense. The experience findings show that, Conflicts outside the role take the contradiction between the teacher and the administrative leadership as prominent, conflicts inside the role take the contradiction between high score culturist and ability raiser, or between knowledge initiator and curriculum inventor as highlights. It differs from the view above. Former study to the origin discussion often lies in the general sense on the society, school and teacher, but the article aims at directly the two "most" which should be solved urgently, and goes into seriously its social origin, mainly using sociological conflict theory which has rarely seen in similar research before, under the principle of "absorbing each other" .We believe, the question statement of the two "most" and its special inquirement themselves have theory value and practice significance, which can hope to make up the insufficient of teacher sociology research to a certain extent and deepen its understanding, which can hope to satisfy teachers' realistic need of middle school on realizing and alleviating role conflict efficiently.
