The Study Of Construction Of College Counselor's Contingent

Political multi-polarization, economic globalization and the growing development of the information network have brought tremendous challenges to the ideological and political education of college students. As college counselors, they work in the front line of ideological education, take the important responsibility of managing, educating and serving students and play a vital role in promoting the overall development of students. The construction of the college counselor contingent has a significant effect on the students'growing, the development of schools and even the country's stability and prosperity. The counselors'work has a heavy responsibility and a glorious mission. CPC Central Committee and the State Council issued Views on Improving and Strengthening the Ideological Education of College Students Further on October 14, 2004. The Ministry of Education has also issued a series of documents, such as Views on Strengthening of Colleges and Universities Instructor and Teacher Ranks, The Requirements to the Building of the Universities Counsellors Contingent and Regular High-educated Schools'Instructor Training Programs From 2006 to 2010. These documents put the importance of the building of the instructors'contingent to an unprecedented height. On the basis of a all-around and deep study, analysis and research of the college counselors'building and preliminary results from the academia and with the theory of the college counselors'building, the author has analyzed the main problems of the current construction of college counselor contingent, in which the author has found out the underlying reasons and then made solutions. In order to provide more scientific and effective ways for China's construction of college instructor's contingent and to enrich the research results of them, the author has pursued the present study.The first part of the thesis is the theory of college instructor contingent's building. Firstly, the author defines the role of college counselors. Counselors are college students'ideological and political guides, life guides and heart health counselors. All the three are the important organic ingredients of college counselors'work. Secondly, it introduces counsellors'position in college education. College counselors are the backbone forces, the organizers, perpetrators in the college ideological and political education and management and instructors, teachers and faithful friends of college students. Counselors are a major power of college students'ideological and political education, playing an irreplaceable role. Thirdly, it explains the importance of strengthening the counselors'team-building. The author argues that strengthening the counselors'team-building is the basic work of strengthening and improving ideological and political education in college. It is the important organizational guarantee of maintaining stability and building a harmonious campus in colleges and universities. It is the key chain to long-term mechanism of training and bringing up the new "four". Building a high-level team of counselors is of great significance to the fully implement principle of education and carrying out the task of the ideological and political education of college students. Finally, it deals with the reform and development trends on China College counselors system after the founding. After the founding,"counselors"have gone through an evolution process of "political mentors," "political counselor" and "counselors". CPC Central Committee, the State Council and the Ministry of Education have issued a series of documents in recent years, from which we can see that professional counselors are developing trend of college counselor contingent.The second part of the thesis is about the major issues and the analysis of reasons for the problems in college counselors ranks. Firstly it discusses the status especially the existing problems in college counselor's contingent. It points that, at present, China has made some tremendous achievements in building the counselors'contingent, such as substantial increase in the number of counselors, the regulating in hiring of counselors. Training of counselors received attention. Counselors'assessment and management have been strengthened, and the development of counselors received attention. But there are still some problems which can not be ignored. For example, some people misunderstand the role of counselors. They think that counselor is administrator to manage students and organize student activities. Some thought counselors'work is in a short-term, transitional job, counselors are "generalists". The number of full-time counselors lacks, and sex, age structure and the source of channels are not reasonable; counselors have too much complicated things, which impacts the ideological and political education functions; counselors'academic levels, the knowledge structure and the theoretical quality can not meet the needs of the work; counselors contingent are instability and so on. Secondly, the thesis analyses the main significance of college counselors'building. The main reasons are: (1) The misunderstanding of the importance of the counselor contingent building lead to the misunderstanding of the role of counselors. (2) The University does not follow the strict standards of selection, equipment and training instructor, so that the number of full-time counselors lacks, and sex, age structure and the source of channels are not reasonable, and academic levels, the knowledge structure, the theory Literacy can not meet the need to the counselors work. (3) The building of the counselor's contingent lacks of long-term building, standardization and institutionalization, so that the complicated matters affecting counselors'ideological and political education functions. (4) Counselors lack a correct understanding of his own work, which leads to the instability in the ranks.The third part is to strengthen countermeasures in the building of the contingent of college counselors: leadership attention and supporting policies are the main guarantee of college counselor's contingent building. We should strengthen the intensity of full-time counselors and strict hiring standards, guarantee the quality of instructors; improve the quality of team structure; consummate the counselor contingent assessment mechanism and safeguard mechanisms, and strengthen professional building of counselor's contingent.The last part is the conclusion. This article suggests that university students are the hope of the nation and the future of the motherland. Strengthening and improving ideological and political education of college students and improving their ideological and moral quality are of great and far-reaching strategic significance to ensure that our country can stay in an invincible position in the fierce international competition, ensure the realization of the grand goal of building a well-off society and speeding up socialist modernization. The ideological and political contingent is the guarantee of strengthening and improving the ideological and political education of college students. Because counselors are the backbone force in the ideological and political education of college students, we should fully understand counselors'status in college education. And in order to promote the overall development of college students and provide the socialism enterprise with qualified builders and successors, we should strive to build a high-level, high-quality, useful and retainable counselor team.
