Teaching reading is an important part in teaching Chinese. But for a long time, because of the effect of the traditional education, the idea of teaching reading is old with a low effectiveness which cause the students in the passive position, thus their activity are oppressed. One of the major opinion Chinese news lessons standard is to cultivate the students'independence, cooperation and research.Independent learning is a new way of learning in the new standard. The combination of independent learning and teaching reading is a reform to the traditional teaching of reading. In the present, with the development of the new textbooks and new teaching standard, there are many strategies on independent reading, and many researchers are making them better. But there are still many problems, for example, the questions are quite generalized and have less connection with the lessons in senior high school. So the Chinese teachers in senior high still have difficulty in practicing after training. In this paper, I discuss how to guide the students in independent reading and how to combine independent learning with reading guidance from the practical teaching. I also try to deal with the practical and effective strategies which can help them with independent learning, improve their literary quality and promote the carrying out of the new lessons.The idea of this paper: firstly, I sum up and analyze the current situation of the research on independent learning and reading strategies in China and other countries, which give a theoretic foundation; next, I fix the object of the research. Aiming at the students in senior high school, I carry out research and apply the strategies, and then draw a conclusion of the experiment.The research tries to find out the strategies guiding the students in independent learning on the basis of the previous research. These strategies include the method and skill teachers guide the students in reading, and how to use these method and skill in reading freely. Others are the method students use to control their reading to maintain and adjust their internal condition, which can promote reading in processing information and form a good habit in reading.
