Extra-curricular reading refers to the activities of students who choose their extracurricular reading materials and reading activities according to their reading interest tendencies during their spare time.It is an important part of Chinese language teaching.It not only helps students understand the language and characters of the motherland,but also plays an important role in improving students’ reading ability.It is also helpful in improving students’ cultivation and shaping good character.With the progress of curriculum reform,the new curriculum standard also puts forward many specific requirements and recommendations for extracurricular reading.It can be seen that extracurricular reading has gained more and more attention from experts and scholars.What is the status of extracurricular reading in high school students? This article has in-depth exploration of the above issues,hoping to explore an efficient way of extracurricular reading teaching.The research of this paper is mainly divided into four parts: The first chapter is the introduction part,mainly expounding the origin and significance of extracurricular reading research,the research methods of this topic,and the current situation of domestic and foreign scholars’ research on extracurricular reading.The second chapter is an overview of readings in high school,and defines related concepts such as “reading” and “reading after class”.It also expounds the requirement of extracurricular reading and the practical significance of extracurricular reading.It also analyzes the extracurricular reading in more detail.It plays an important role in opening up students’ horizons and developing their intelligence,improving their language skills,their writing skills,and their aesthetic capabilities.The third chapter is the investigation and analysis of the status quo of extracurricular reading for high school students,including the questionnaire design description and questionnaire content.It mainly elaborates the existing problems of high school students in extracurricular reading,and further analyzes the causes of the problems.The fourth chapter is the study of extracurricular reading instruction strategies,and discusses in detail from five aspects: 1.Develop a scientific and rational extra-curricular reading program and recommend classic reading materials;2.Inspire students’ reading interest;3.Instruct students to develop good reading habits;4.Teachers to improve their self-cultivation;5.Timely and effective after-class reading feedback.This topic mainly adopts the literature method and the questionnaire survey method.It tries to find out the effective strategies and methods for guiding the extracurricular reading of high school students by investigating the current situation of extracurricular reading of senior high school students,so that the development of extracurricular reading teaching in high schools can be improved.It is hoped that the study of this topic can provide lessons for the first-line high school Chinese teachers in extracurricular reading guidance,making the teaching reading outside of high school more standardized,scientific,and reasonable.
