Chinese artists attach great importance to blank-leaving in their works. In Chinese traditional paintings, mountains and skies are always left in no color, and so are the backgrounds of the paintings about flowers, birds and human beings, which can allow the viewers freedom to think in their own ways. Chinese teaching is not only a kind of science, but also a kind of art. If blank-leaving is also attached great importance to in Chinese teaching, students will greatly improve their ability to master Chinese by practising thinking freely on their own. The application of blank-leaving to Chinese teaching is to arouse students'enthusiasm for active participation in teaching activities, which not only gives prominence to student-oriented status, but also encourages students'creativity, so that the teachers can realize the dream of getting twice the result with half the effort. This thesis is to focus on the following chapters: brief introduction to blank-leaving in Chinese reading teaching; encouraging students creativity with prominence of student-oriented status by means of blank-leaving; practice and effects of blank-leaving in classroom teaching.
