With the development of society, great changes have happened to the English course books in the senior middle school, from Senior English in 1984 to Advance with English at present. So far, the senior English course book has been adjusted four times in different aspects, such as the arrangement of each unit, the chosen tasks, the topics, the pictures and even the size of the book, which brings new challenges to the teachers and great interest to the students as well. It seems that the new course book is coming closer to perfection. However, learners are still talking about the course book which was used more than 10 years ago. Why has the course book in 1984 left the learners so deep an impression? Is there anything better in the course book? Is there anything to be improved in the present English course book? If so, what should be done to make up for the disadvantages?...
