A series of reasons , such as the University Expansion, further popularity of high school education , the bias on Vocational Education and the reduction of the total number of students etc, have led to the learning situations of the students in vocational school become worse and produced a large number of Poor Students , of which Mathematical Poor Students account for a large proportion , which brought a direct impact on the normal teaching in the vocational schools .The purposes of this thesis are to define self-learning and state the theoretical basis and influence factors on how to develop self-learning ability through Literature Research . At the same time , the concept of the Poor Students and related concepts are stated in this thesis. Based on understanding of domestic and foreign research and the self-learning status quo of mathematics Poor Students in two vocational schools, A survey , made among 260 students at school and 20 Mathematics teachers and 2 students have been chosen to be case study, is aimed at showing some of the author's suggestions on how to develop the self-learning ability of mathematics Poor Students in vocational schools and getting the result in the guidance of mathematics education.Through over one-year's teaching research and practice, the result shows that the self-learning ability and performance of most mathematics Poor Students have improved, but improved marginally, and this also indicates that the self-learning ability is affected by the level of individual awareness and other factors, so we need further research and exploration.
