Study On Peasants' Non-Material Welfare

The significance of peasants'welfare becomes obvious nowadays with the topic about Agriculture, Rural Areas and Peasantry being social focus. It relates not only to the stability and relative prosperity in rural area, but also to the prospects of new rural reconstruction. Furthermore, it relates to the mass attitude of peasants on China's modernization and its the future.Material and non-material aspects are two methods to improve the level of peasants'welfare. However, under the market economy conditions, peasants'situation is marginalized increasingly with their dominant position and traditional values having been diluted. And with the interpersonal contacts between the peasants have declined, their ability to cooperate has been weakened, resulting to less pleasures that they could get from the communications, and less constraint forces of moral in villages. All of the factors have affected negatively the farmer's normal life and production, and reduced the level of peasants'welfare.In order to improve the level of peasants'welfare from non-material aspect, cultural and social measures concerned should be adopted, with a picture showing the peasants a meaningful and expectation-worth life in villages. It requires improving the living situations of the peasants from their experiences and the circumstances point of view and through taking measures on the cultural and social dimensions, such as respecting peasants'belief and traditional cultural values, rebuilding their interpersonal relationships and enhancing their cooperation, etc. Only in this way, can we ultimately enhance the overall level of peasants'welfare.
