In recent years, the selection of famous teachers in colleges and universities has been put into effect. It has produced a gigantic fa?ade effect. The selection has a positive role to the promoting the development of higher education especially the quality of higher educational. But the problems in the selection procedure are also obvious. At the same time, the study our academic circle are quite weak. The concept, characteristics and election mechanism are analyzed in this research. And on this base, it puts the emphasis on illustrating main existing problems on famous teachers'election and put forward a serious of theoretic ideas and concrete countermeasures for solving these problems.The article defines the concept and connotation of famous teachers. As to definition of famous teachers, firstly, they are teachers; second, they have certain fame; third, they enjoy certain amount of reputatutaion; fourth, they are recongnized by quite some people; fifth, they are some influences in the field of teaching; sixth, they have a higher professional attainment of teachers; seventh, they are creative in some way; eighth, with outstanding achievement; ninth, famous are shaped naturally in the field of education. The election mechanism is that the process of interaction and the way of relevant factors and conditions.By taking the documentary research as well as investigation, five main problems have been found existing in the system of the famous teachers'selection. The first is that the fulfill degree of famous teachers'selection's anticipative purpose need increase. The second is that teacher's main position cannot be embodied in the selection. The third is that the agreement degree of the selection index's system is quite low. The fourth is that the tendency is clear which emphasizes the results and put no emphasis on the process. The last is that the consistency of selection criteria is not high among diversified selection subjects.For the problems above, I creatively put forward five pieces of advice. The first is that famous teachers'selection should not only attach equal importance on the teaching process and teaching results, but also give attention to the correspondence of them. The second is that regards teacher's main position in the selection. The third is that the index system of famous teachers'selection should be changed from giving to becoming, and shows collective will. The fourth is to establish a harmonious mechanism of"counter-evaluation"for examining the result of famous teachers'selection. Among these countermeasures, the first one and the fifth one are of originality and maneuverability, and they two have their own theoretic foundation. The other three are sublimations on the base of other study.
