The ministry of Education in China issued the Curriculum Standards of Biology for Senior High School Students, in July, 2004, claiming definitely the basic concept of senior Biology course. Meanwhile, the Standards also identifies the goal of the course according with students' knowledge, their value of sensibility and capacity. It means an overall reform of educating and teaching in a practical way.The Senior Biology Textbook Assignment System is a relatively independent system as well as a key element linked with Text System, which clearly distinguishes itself from other Biology readings. The SBTAS is actually an important way to achieve the goal of the Biology course, for it can not only consolidate students' knowledge and cultivate their learning ability but also it exerts a subtle influence on their value of sensibility. The System also directly affects the changing and updating of teachers' thinking. Besides, it can reflect the new idea of the assessment policy of education. A good Assignment System can greatly encourage teachers to improve their way of teaching as well as cultivate students' ability of self-study, practice and innovation. Therefore, it is necessary and timely to give a specific analysis on the SBTAS.The article gives its idea with comparison from the angle of theory and practice. First, it identifies the connotation of the Biology Textbook Assignment System. Secondly, theoretically based on the suggestions that the Curriculum gives on the assignment system, the inspiration of this system that comes from Zone of Proximal Development and the elicitation from the theory of cognition and structuralism. With two on-test editions from PEP and JEP, this article gives research on the following two aspects.(1) Text Analysis. Equally there is a comparison between the two text editions of their problem patterns, quantity of questions, level of difficulty, consolidation of knowledge, cultivation of knowledge transformation, combination between practical industrial life and updated scientific information, reflection of one's emotion, attitude and values, construction of students' new knowledge, openness, and flexibility. Besides, it also offers a specific analysis and conclusion about this system.(2) Investigative research. To have a better understanding of how well the teachers use this text material of the New Curriculum and the assessment of the content, especially the feedback of the assignment system, I design a questionnaire for both teachers and students. Meanwhile I make a investment on those biology teachers from eight schools in four different districts in different ways, such as the idea of the organization of the textbook assignment system, the knowledge system with which students can build of their own, the improvement of their comprehensive ability, the direction of progress and methods, the development of values of emotions, the infiltration of STS and so on. In total, I callback 50 valid question samples from teachers and 786 from students and I also make an interview of some chief editors of the textbook. With the SPSS I come to a conclusion as below:(1) Both of the two editions clearly reflects an excellent combination of knowledge, ability and values of emotions. To make it more detailed, first they establish a good knowledge organization of biology. Secondly, they greatly improve students' comprehensive ability of learning Biology. Thirdly, the two systems enrich the experience progress and methods of learning and researching. Fourthly, they develop students' feelings and emotions of learning interest, cooperative attitude and scientific spirit. Lastly, they offer students space to mix together the science, technology and daily life.(2) The assignment system itself has some disadvantages. For example, the assessment is not emphasized very well during the learning activity. What's more, the design of the exploring activity in the system is far too beyond students' ability.Finally, I'd like to give, from different aspects, several suggestions on the composition of the textbook system, instructions and study strategy given to the students and the usage of this assignment system:(1). The system should focus on the assessment during learning activities.(2). The system should give a chance for those students to express their own ideas with freedom.(3). When using this system to give students some learning strategy, the teachers should meanwhile put some word explanation to instruct students to learn.(4). With this system, teachers should make some necessary choice, substitution and supplement according to their understanding of the textbook and students.(5). Teachers should offer students timely and possible directions and assistance when students are dong their exploring research.
