A Study On The General Certificate Of Secondary Education And Its Characteristics In England

In recent years,many countries are reforming the education testing system,strenthening the state supervision to the examination to improve the quality of the education when they are reforming their education.The higher school certificate examination is an important type in the world secondary education test system and a general form of high school graduation examination.Many countries are using this examination in the world,such as Britain,Franee,Germany,Australia,New Zealand,SingaPore and Malaysia,etc.Because every countries has its own school system,the function of senior school certificate examination is different.The General Certificate of Secondary Education(GCSE) that the England students take part in when they are 16 years old,is the final test of compulsory education helding by the national unity,and it is both the graduation test and the consultation for employment and entering a higher school.The England senior school certificate examination has a long history,and it has been a scieniific examination systern after several reform.It is a distinctive style in the secondary education test system of the world.A lot of problems are appeared in higher school certificate examination of China,which can not meet the new curriculum reform.The General Certificate of Secondary Education can provide us with some reference about our examination reform in China.This paper is divided into two part.The first part is the general introdution on the England secondary education system and the secondary education test system,and the appearance and development of the General Certificate of Secondary.The second part analyses the function and the location of the GCSE in order to nail down the effect.The third part is mainly about the implementation of the GCSE,which contains the administrative organization and its time table,forms,subjects,assessment style,etc.The fourth part analyses the features of the GCSE.The last part analyses the inspirations and the advice that GCSE offers to the reform of higher school examinatio in China.
