With the constant development and progress of the society,it becomes possible for everybody to enjoy equal rights of receiving education.However,enjoying these rights doesn't mean getting the same chance of developing oneself as others.The author finds out there are three main unfair phenomena in senior English classroom teaching through a long term of classroom teaching practice and an amount of classroom observations:unfair classroom space,unfair participation opportunities and unfair teaching evaluation.These unfair phenomena lead to developmental inequality of different individuals,influencing the effectiveness of classroom teaching and all students' all-round developments. This research is an empirical study of fairness of English classroom teaching in senior high school based on Multiple Intelligences Theory.Multiple Intelligences Theory of Howard Gadener breaks the narrow understanding of traditional intelligence theories of personal development providing a brand-new mode of personal development for us.It helps us to comprehend the students' development from a new angle,to examine our evaluation for students,and to provide the powerful theoretical foundation for the fairness of the classroom teaching.The researcher proposed some fair MIT-based strategies in senior English classroom teaching based on the literature review:1) building up a fair concept of classroom teaching and student view;2) ensuring students share education resources fairly;3) implementing multiple teaching.Then,a semester-long empirical experiment was conducted in two classes from Grade One in No 6 Senior High School in Shijiazhuang,one of which served as the experimental group where the fair English classroom teaching based on MIT was put into practice,and another of which served as the control group that was instruction with the traditional teaching method.A discussion is made based on the data collected from questionnaires,classroom observations and interviews.Finally a conclusion is drawn:the fair English classroom teaching based on MIT can improve senior English classroom teaching effectiveness and promote the development of all students.
